MP
BACKS CYPRUS SOLUTION
Eastbourne
MP Nigel Waterson has addressed a packed meeting
of the National Federation of Cypriots in the
United Kingdom at the House of Commons. The
meeting was to mark the 35th anniversary of
the Turkish invasion and the division of the
island.
Nigel said: “It is a terrible
tragedy that after 35 years the island of Cyprus
remains divided. Whilst it is encouraging that
President Christofias and Mr. Talat have made
some progress in their talks – including
the agreement to reopen the Limnitis crossing
point – there is still much more to do.”
“And there remains the
terrible situation of the relatives of the missing
persons, who still do not know the final fate
or resting place of their loved ones. After
all this time, what we need is a solution for
Cyprus, by Cypriots and for Cypriots.”
