MP HAILS BY-ELECTION TRIUMPH

Eastbourne MP Nigel Waterson has hailed as a “triumph” the Conservatives’ crushing victory at the Norwich North By-Election. The Tory candidate Chloe Smith turned a Labour majority at the last general election of over 5,000 into a Conservative one of 7,000.

Nigel commented:

“This was a crushing defeat for Labour. They ended up with a mere 18% of the votes, leaving the minor parties like the Lib Dems and UKIP trailing in behind. The people of Norwich understood that the only opposition party capable of removing Gordon Brown and this useless Government is the Conservatives.”

“I campaigned in the by-election. The thing that most struck me was the positive nature of Chloe’s campaign. This was in stark contrast to the relentlessly negative and personally nasty campaigning from Labour and the Lib Dems. This is a lesson for them here in Eastbourne and Willingdon.”
