MP
BACKS LOCAL BANK
Local
MP Nigel Waterson has expressed his concern
that the Halifax branch on Albert Parade once
again faces closure. This follows press reports
that Lloyds Group, which took over Halifax last
year, are planning to close hundreds of smaller
branches, including ‘agency counters’
like the one in Old Town.
Nigel
commented: “The bank in Albert Parade
is now the only one left in Old Town, and it
cannot be allowed to shut. Its cashpoint and
counter service are a lifeline for traders and
residents alike.”
“Old
Town Conservatives fought a successful campaign
to save the bank only 3 years ago. We even had
support from the Shadow Chancellor George Osborne!
Now we must fight alongside local people to
keep it open again.”
Nigel
is urging residents to sign his Petition, either
in Albert Parade/Green Street shops, or in his
office at 179 Victoria Drive.
